The Asus P5W DH Deluxe feels very solid. My Conroe CPU would not boot with the shipping BIOS. I had to update to a newer BIOS in order to run Conroe. The board uses a heatpipe and radiator to remove heat from the northbridge. The learning curve with this board is much easier than the Intel D975XBX.
