CPU's

Not much to report on the overclocking front. I have a new FX-57 (another week 0516). Actually I traded with someone else. It performs about the same in 32M as my old FX-57, but needs less VCore. Did manage a personal best in Pifast (see screenshot). Actually had a time below 33secs, but there was an "error in computation".

I can't believe how much computer junk I have in my room. I'm going to toss out more non-working components today. Not sure why I've hung onto this stuff. My father used to hold onto things forever. Like father like son.

Maybe in the Spring, I'll build a new dual-core system, using a UFO box like gocchin's. We'll see. I'm trying to find a good dual-core that doesn't have the dreaded cold bug. I'd like to be able to test it with phase change or dry ice cooling.

My most satisfying CPU is the one I use everyday, my Opteron 148. It does 3GHz air-cooled with 1.46v. Can run 32M up to 3.1GHz on air. I wish I could find a dual-core with similar performance.

I think I'm going to get away from extreme overclocking. Just focus on semi-extreme. ^^ Yours is a Mountain Mods case, right?

I don't need nine hard drives, but I would like more room inside the case.

I just need a project to keep me busy this Spring. I don't really need a media center. But my daily rig is too cramped and it's a full tower case!
